Beginning
Rakim Hasheem Allen better known as PnB Rock was an American rapper, singer and songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He garnered wave with his 2015 single “Fleek”, followed by many inspiring singles such as “Selfish” (2016), his feature on song “Cross Me” by Ed sheeran and another on late rapper Pop Smoke’s song “Backseat”, he was beginning to carve a niche for himself in the music industry. Rock had two studio albums “Catch These Vibes (2017) and Trapstar Turnt Popstar (2019) which the latter peaked at top five on Billboard 200 charts, and a latest single “Luv Me Again” released in September. PnB’s voice and lyrics always captivated his audience.
How He Died
It was alleged that over the weekend Rock and his girlfriend and mother of his second child, Stephanie Sibounheuang had been visiting various restaurants in LA to try out several dishes. But his life was cut short when they made a stop at the famous Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N’ Waffles near Mainstreet and Manchester Avenue in Los Angeles, California. His girlfriend who is an Instagram influencer and brand ambassador with over 600k followers took a picture of their meal tagging their location and posted on her Instagram which she has since deleted. After an hour of the post, an armed man pulled up on the rapper, and demanded his jewelry and other valuables before getting into a struggle which prompted him to open fire on the rapper. Rock was shot multiple times with the thief escaping through the side door to a getaway car.
An unknown person recorded the rapper’s last moments as he laid in a pool of his own blood writhing in pain. This is so sad. PnB was later taken to the hospital and pronounced dead at 1:59pm on the 12th of September.
Rock’s Last Interview Before His Death
Rock spoke about prior robbery attempts in LA and a recent brush with Los Angeles gang members in an interview with Dj Akademiks on his Sept 2 episode of “Off The Record With Dj Akademiks”. According to the rapper, he was out with his girlfriend and their daughter on Fairfax avenue when some people tried to rob him. PnB Rock told Akademiks “Where I’m from, we like sneaky criminals. In LA….they bold”. Rock further said he had never been robbed before and why he was always so cautious was after his oldest brother was killed. He began to live on the edge, because a situation could turn deadly at any moment.
His girlfriend’s Involvement
A day before the unfortunate incident, Steph, Rock’s baby mama posted on her Instagram saying the rapper deleted her Instagram and refused to give her the new password until recently, a post Rock replied to. Steph has been blamed for his death by countless fans after her since deleted post about their location is what many claim to be the reason for his death. She has garnered thousands of hate comments on all her Instagram posts even from a year ago, with comments like “bitch, needs to die”, “ go meet your baby daddy”, after many people believe she set him up to his death. Although this might not be true, rappers like Kodak Black and Nicki Minaj have come out to openly blame her for killing their friend. Kodak Black said “That hoe should kill herself.”
Steph has since deactivated her Instagram account and disappeared from social media while police investigations are ongoing.
Conclusion
6ix9ine made a callous joke about PnB Rock’s death saying “homie died over waffles” and has since received several backlash from various people, for his insensitive post.
